KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – September 30, 2011 – SmartBank has announced that Executive Vice President, Heather Hubbard Morgan has been named the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer and C. Bryan Johnson, has been named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer.

Heather Hubbard Morgan received her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master in Professional Accounting from The University of Texas in 2000. After college, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Austin, Texas. Heather became licensed in Texas as a Certified Public Accountant in 2001. In 2004, Heather received her Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, from The University of Tennessee College of Law. After law school, Heather worked as an attorney at Miller & Martin, PLLC, where she was instrumental in starting six banks in Tennessee, including SmartBank. Prior to joining SmartBank, Heather rejoined PricewaterhouseCoopers in its New York City office. Heather joined SmartBank in September 2007 as the Controller, served as the Chief Financial Officer from 2008 – 2011, and recently assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer. Heather currently serves on the boards of Nucleus Knoxville and Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville and was recently honored as one of Knoxville’s “40 Under 40.” Heather, her husband Ned, and their young son live in Knoxville.
C. Bryan Johnson joined SmartBank in February 2010 as the Controller and was recently named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. He received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1991. In 2000 he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. Bryan is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a licensed member of the Tennessee Bar. He served as an Officer in the United States Army from 1991-1996, worked as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Tennessee teaching Security Analysis and Financial Statement Analysis courses from 2002-2009, and headed up research for Moon Capital Management from 2000-2008. Bryan is the Treasurer of the CFA Society of East Tennessee and a member of the West Point Society of East Tennessee. Bryan and his wife, Heidi reside in Knoxville.
