TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – April 4, 2018, – SmartFinancial, Inc., parent company of SmartBank (“SmartFinancial,” NASDAQ: SMBK), recently appointed Steve Tucker and Beau Wicks to its board of directors.

“With the addition of Steve and Beau to our board, we are adding two influential assets,” said Billy Carroll, SmartBank President and CEO. “Their knowledge of the Alabama business community will give us the opportunity to build relationships and gain greater insight of the Tuscaloosa area, which will contribute to SmartBank’s long-running success.”

Tucker is a former principal in Barnett Transportation, a liquid bulk transporter headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Tucker has an expansive background including his service as an Officer in the United States Army. After his military career, he joined the national accounting firm, Arthur Anderson, and became a certified public accountant. He has over 20 years of accounting experience. Currently, Tucker serves as principal for BTI Investments & Real Estate. Prior to his appointment to the SmartFinancial board, Tucker was chairman of the board of Capstone Bancshares, Inc. and Capstone Bank. In addition to his professional career, Tucker has been an active participant in his local community, including his service as treasurer and president of the Tuscaloosa Children’s Hands-On Museum. He is also a former board member of the Alabama Trucking Worker’s Compensation Fund.

Wicks founded and currently serves as president of Southeast Logistics, Inc., a regional trucking company serving the building products industry. Since its inception, the company has grown to operating 300 trucks with four offices in three states. Prior to 1998, Wicks spent eight years as controller for Randall Publishing Company, and six years as the chief financial officer of Cummings Trucking Company. His experience with business growth strategies, finances and accounting, contribute to his knowledge of the Alabama market. He is a member of the Alabama Trucking Association, and has served on the board of directors and as chairman for the Alabama Trucking Association Worker’s Compensation Fund. He has also served in numerous non-profit roles throughout Alabama.
