Maryville, TN – December 13, 2023 – The Maryville Housing Authority (MHA), in partnership with SmartBank, is pleased to announce the receipt of a $1 million grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank’s (FHLB) Affordable Housing Program. This substantial award will play a pivotal role in supporting MHA’s ongoing mission of providing a quality living environment that is safe and affordable for the Maryville community. SmartBank continues to stand as a dedicated financial partner for the MHA which owns and operates Maryville Towers, a 118-unit housing complex serving low-to-moderate income residents.

The FHLB’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP), is its largest and most impactful initiative and has been awarded over $895 million since 1990 to develop more than 109,000 affordable housing units. The FHLB has recognized the exemplary work of the Maryville Housing Authority in meeting the critical needs of the community.

Julie Sharpe, Executive Director of the Maryville Housing Authority, expressed gratitude for the support from FHLB and the continued partnership with SmartBank. “This $1 million grant is a significant milestone for us. It will allow us to amplify our efforts in providing secure and affordable housing options, ensuring that our community members have a place they can call home with dignity and pride.”
