Brian Groeschell serves as a Division President for SmartBank, overseeing the Alabama markets that span from Huntsville/North Alabama down through Central Alabama which includes Birmingham and Tuscaloosa and extending to our Southwest Alabama markets in Clarke and Washington Counties. With extensive experience across multiple leadership roles, he excels in guiding sales processes, building strong teams, and fostering community involvement. Brian joined SmartBank in 2014 as Tuscaloosa Market Executive, later serving as Area Executive over Tuscaloosa and Southwest Alabama and then Alabama Regional President before assuming his current position as Division President. Throughout his career, Brian has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to the banking industry. He received the United Way of West Alabama Young Leaders’ United in Service Award in 2019 and the Rising Star Award from the Alabama Bankers Association in 2021. A graduate of the University of Alabama, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management. Brian is also actively involved in his community. He serves on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama where he is a past president, the United Way of West Alabama where he serves as treasurer, Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre, and the Tuscaloosa Economic Development Authority, where he is a member of the Finance Committee. He also volunteers annually with Junior Achievement of West Alabama and is an active Eucharistic Minister and Lector with St. Francis Catholic Church.
